This full-body Spanish Mastiff stands on a stone ledge rendered in sepia ink on aged ochre parchment. The illustration mimics Renaissance anatomical study plates — complete with Italian annotation labels pointing to the neck musculature, shoulder ring, chest depth, and hindquarters. Text reads "ANATOMIA CANIS" at the lower right, flanked by a compass rose and measurement marks. The Mastiff's dense double coat is rendered in fine cross-hatched linework, his broad head carried level, tail curving low. The composition is deliberate and straight-on, treating the breed with the same clinical respect Da Vinci gave the human form. A Spanish Mastiff has guarded Iberian flocks for two millennia. An anatomical diagram seems overdue.
